In 2009, Mrs. Fiona Kiggundu was approached by a young girl named Beck. She was 14 years old at the time and a pupil at Kalinabiri Primary school a school in the Ntinda area and in employment in a certain home as a domestic worker. When she met with Fiona, she was concerned that she was not going to be able to join High school because her employers at the time were not going to be able afford it. Becky’s story captivated Fiona because she saw how determined Becky was to get ahead in life. Becky seemed to know education was the only way she was going to make it.
Mrs . Kiggundu decided to do something about it and visited her school where she found out that there were so many other girls going through exactly what Becky was going through.
Mrs . Kiggundu partnered with the same school and initiated a Girl empowering program that supports the Girl child to stay in school. This is done through Talk and counselling sessions as well as providing basics like Sanitary towels, panties, bras and stationery. From one school, we are now spread in six High schools and reaching 560 Girls and targeting reaching 1000 Girls. Helping one Girl at a time. Spread word out for us to help more Girls.
